AIDS 2016: 'Leave no one behind in the human race' - Elton John
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The Elton John AIDS Foundation together with AIDS relief organisation, PEPFAR have announced the inaugural LGBT Fund recipients.
The recipients, The International HIV/AIDS Alliance and the MSM Global Forum, will receive grants and technical support enabling them to address the stigma and discrimination within their communities.
The fund was first started in 2015 to address the social injustices faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.
The grant is aimed at strengthening the capacity of community organisations and expanding HIV prevention and treatment for LGBT people.
Addressing the media this afternoon, Sir Elton John said while a lot of work remains in ending the epidemic, significant progress has been made.
