AgriSA: Disaster declaration due to flooding must ensure deployment of resources
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
AgriSA says the declaration of a state of disaster due to flooding in parts of the country must be followed by the deployment of resources.

The organisation says while it welcomes the move, it would like to see the acceleration of relief funding and the rebuilding of critical infrastructure.
AgriSA's Andrea Campher has also called for support for farmers.

"The damage to critical infrastructure also has a potentially long-term implication for these affected communities.
"Our primary concern is that the relief effort is rolled-out effectively and that relief funding is disbursed in a transparent and accountable manner.
"We will therefore be working closely with the national disaster management centre to monitor the relief efforts and to share damage assessment data to ensure that appropriate allocation of resources."
