Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature says they are concerned about the slow uptake of Covid-19 vaccines among young people in the province.
Nontembeko Boyce conducted a two-day oversight visit to vaccination centres across the province.

Boyce said government and stakeholders have been working together to administer the jabs in facilities like public halls.

She said she's also impressed by the door-to-door vaccination drives for those severely ill.
However, she warned young people aren't yet seizing the opportunity to take the shot.
"The issue of the decline in terms of the 35 to 49 is not as coming; the enthusiasm is no longer as it started.
"Also generally the interest hasn't picked up with the 18 to 35, according to statistics in the various districts.

"Maybe there is still a need for an aggressive campaign from the Department of Health especially targeting the 18 to 34 age group so that they can be motivated."
Boyce said they will submit their findings to the Health Department and the legislature.
