AFU seizes asset of fraud accused uMhlatuze Water officials

Authorities
have seized millions of rands' worth of assets belonging to officials arrested
in connection with fraud and corruption at uMhlatuze Water.
The Asset Forfeiture Unit and other teams pounced on their properties on Friday.
The NPA's Natasha Kara says the court-appointed curator has been ordered to locate property to the value of R37 million.

" The assets seized today include immovable property located in Umhlanga Ridge, Ballito, Mthunzini Estate, Ashburton, Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay and Cape Town.
The assets also include luxury vehicles and money that are in trust accounts and bank accounts.
“The assets will be held under the curatorship pending the outcome of the criminal matter which returns to court on 06 December 2022.”
