Afro-pop singer Lira hospitalised after suffering stroke in Germany

South African Afro-pop singer Lerato Molapo, popularly known as Lira, is recovering in hospital after suffering a stroke while in Germany for a performance.
Her family confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday evening.
They said Lira’s ability to communicate and in particular her speech has been impacted.
“She is currently undergoing treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team available. Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term,” said the family in a statement.

The 43 years old is said to be in good spirits and surrounded by her family and close friends as starts her journey to a full recovery.
“We thank you all in advance for your prayers, support, kindness and utmost sensitivity and consideration during this very challenging time in her life," the family added.
