AfriForum flag case brings to fore 'other significant issues' – NMF
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Nelson Mandela Foundation believes AfriForum's court bid in a matter concerning the old South African flag brings to the fore other significant issues.
The lobby group has made submission to appeal an Equality Court ruling that declared the gratuitous display of the old South African flag as hate speech.
It argued the ban amounts to censorship.
The Supreme Court of Appeal reserved judgement in the case on Wednesday.

Both Nelson Mandela Foundation and the SA Human Rights Commission opposed the application, saying the flag represents white domination over black bodies.
"We are confident that the judgment, which we expect over the coming months, will be in favour of national building, national healing and indicative of a society where everybody has a right to dignity, respect and human rights," says the foundation's Sello Hatang.
