AfriForum blames ANC for expulsion of SA ambassador to US
Updated | By Newswatch
Lobby group AfriForum has accused the ANC of gambling with
the country's future after the expulsion of South Africa’s Ambassador to the
US.

"ANC leaders and their deployed cadre Ebrahim Rasool should take direct responsibility for the escalation of tensions between South Africa and the US," said AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel.
In a post on X on Friday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Ebrahim Rasool of hating the country and President Donald Trump declaring him persona non grata.
The ambassador was quoted by a conservative news outlet Breibart as saying Trump is leading a white supremacist movement in America and around the world.
The remarks were reportedly made during a foreign policy webinar in Johannesburg.
The US recently stopped all funding to South Africa, accusing the government of carrying out a genocide against white farmers through the Expropriation Act.

Kriel says the continued tensions will cost the country.
"It was Ebrahim Rasool that yesterday led a scathing attack against President Donald Trump. A change of direction is needed in South Africa and that is what AfriForum is working for.”
Meanwhile, the Presidency has called the expulsion regrettable.
In a statement, it affirmed its commitment to maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with the US.
