Judgement in Durban decapitation case postponed due to admin issues

Judgement in the case of those accused of involvement in the murder of a Shallcross woman who was found beheaded in 2014, has been postponed until next year in the Durban High Court.

The five accused - Thuso Thelejane, Mlungisi Ndlovu and
Mbali Magwaba (all 18), 36-year-old traditional healer Sibonakaliso Mbili and his
32-year-old assistant, Vusumuzi Gumede - appeared briefly in court today.

They are charged with the murder of sex worker Desiree Murugan, whose decapitated body was found in the Shallcross Sports Stadium in Chatsworth, south of Durban, in August 2014.
Judge Thoba Poyo-Dlwati said she could not hand down judgement today, due to administrative hiccups at the court.
The matter has been adjourned for judgment over three days in January.
18-year-old Falakhe Khumalo confessed to his role in Murugan's murder in September 2014. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
