Additional water supply for Ndwedwe communities
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Communities in the Ndwedwe area on the north coast will soon have an additional 3 million litres of water added to their supply system.

That is the result of recent upgrades to the eMhlabathini reservoir. Thousands of people will now receive pressured water. Three of the four upgrade phases have now been completed.
The most recent phase was carried out this week.
The Ndwedwe Municipality’s water services manager, Elias Bhengu, says increased demand meant better pipe lines had to be laid.
"The upgrades will see pumps push water even further and reaching more communities", he said.
"Currently we are moving between 9 and 10 million litres of water per day but the actual demand is about 13 million litres per day. Once all this is done we will be able to supply the additional 3 litres of water needed", Bhengu said.
