Additional police contingent deployed in Plessislaer
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A large contingent of police officers has been deployed to deal with crime in the Plessislaer area, near Pietermaritzburg.

In a statement, police say newly-appointed KZN police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has set his sights on the Plessislaer police precinct, which they say is a troublesome area in the province.
Police Spokesperson, Jay Naicker says the Imbali area in particular will be getting majority of the additional police deployments.
Naicker says Mkhwananzi met with police management in the Umgungundlovu District this week to get an understanding of the crime challenges and the difficulties encountered by police.
"During the session the Provincial Commissioner marshaled a large contingent of police officers that will be focusing on the rollout of dedicated operations in the days ahead", he said.
"A plan was put in place which will be monitored on a daily basis by the provincial commissioner's office. Weekly evaluation sessions will also take place to assess the operations and to plan for the weeks ahead", Naicker.
