Addington Hospital stays grounded as lift saga continues
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
It's not clear when Addington Hospital's lifts will be repaired.
Staff members at the Durban facility returned to work yesterday afternoon, after they downed tools over malfunctioning lifts.
Four aren't working. Only one is being used for emergencies and members of the public, another is being used for food.
The provincial health department says it's held fruitful talks with staff at Addington.
A working committee was formed.
It'll oversee repairs at the hospital and monitor daily operations.

The department says it's also been in talks with a service provider.
It's stressed the parts that are needed to repair the lifts are being shipped in and could take time to arrive, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the DA's written to the SA Human Rights Commission requesting a probe into the problem.
