Action Society wants answers on Toti pastor's killing

Civil rights group Action Society says it's met with its legal team to find a way to get answers on the case of slain Amanzimtoti pastor Liezel de Jager.

De Jager was found strangled to death in the garden of her home a year-and-a-half ago after she'd gone out for a run.

Action Society's Ian Cameron says there's been hardly any movement in the matter.

"it is incredibly frustrating. We get no feedback from the police. Every time we do ask, they just say it is in progress. We don't get any form of positive feedback.

"According to the information that we have is that they still haven't completed a lot of the digital forensic investigations and many parts of the forensic investigation are still not complete."

De Jager's father, Henk Van Zyl says he can't start the process of healing without closure.

"We really are extremely frustrated because we know that in the South African police force, there is still capabilities, places where there is still good investigations, good policing, crime prevention is happening.

"But in our case, unfortunately, in the beginning, it was all promises and certainties and eventually, it became non-existent."

Newswatch has sent a query to KZN SAPS about the investigation and is yet to get a response.
