A key witness in the fraud and corruption case against former Free State premier Ace Magashule has been arrested in the United States.
The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed on Monday that Moroadi Cholota was arrested over the weekend.
Cholota is Magashule’s former personal assistant and is expected to shed more light on Magashule’s involvement in the R255 million asbestos removal campaign.
NPA spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the court was told of Cholota's arrest on Monday morning.
“The court was also informed by the National Prosecuting Authority that Ms Cholota has been arrested in the USA, and she will make her first appearance in court sometime today in the same court in the USA.”
Magashule, who is also the former secretary-general of the ANC, and his co-accused were back in the Bloemfontein High Court on Monday.
