Abandoned baby girl recovering well: KZN medics
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
A newborn baby girl is recovering well in hospital after being rescued from a pit toilet in the Umzinyathi District in northern KZN.
The baby's uncle found her at the bottom of the 3-metre pit near Msinga yesterday morning.
KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert Mckenzie says medics were relieved to hear the baby moving and crying when they arrived at the scene.

"The paramedics had to break the concrete base of the toilet and rescued the little baby girl. They treated her, warmed her and cleaned her up before transporting her through to hospital for continued medical care," he said.
