Abahlali turns to UN over 'assassinations' of prominent members
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Shack dwellers movement Abahlali Basemjondolo says it's turning to the United Nations for help, claiming some of its members were the victims of organised killings.

The group believes prominent members, who openly criticised the government and politicians, have become targets.
The organisation's Sbu Zikode says at least 24 activists have been assassinated recently.
He says cries for help from law enforcement have fallen on deaf ears.
"At the UN level, we are engaging the Europe Union mechanism signing specialists who will be looking at the issues very closely.
"If the South African government is not interested in making sure that its citizens are protected from intermediation that haunts Abahlali, other countries and solidarity partners of South Africa will not just fold their arms."
