Abahlali claims July riots planned at 'high political level'
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The leader of an informal settlement movement in KwaZulu-Natal believes politicians were behind the July unrest.

S'bu Zikode of Abahlali baseMjondolo gave evidence before the South African Human Rights Commission on Monday.
The SAHRC is probing the cause of the riots earlier this year.
Zikode said there were threats before the unrest, which stemmed from the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma.
"The arrest, of course, of the former president has given rise and has made the already fertile ground ready for these riots.
"We also agree with the view that this riot was also planned at a very high political level."
He claims the home of one the country's justices was a target.
"There is now a specific target to the home of the deputy chief justice who is chairing the Zondo commission. I knew it was serious. It was for that reason why I took the privilege to cal the premier."
