Motsoaledi says the protection of women is 'collective responsibility'
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Despite the many opportunities available to young South Africans, health and social issues such as teenage pregnancy remain obstacles.

This is according to Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi.
Speaking during the conclusion of the Higher Education Aids Conference in Durban yesterday, Motsoaledi said the high rate of HIV-infections among young women is also another challenge facing the youth.
"The research that was done in 14 Southern and the Eastern countries found that the rate of infection in young women between the ages of 15 and 24 was 5000 new infections per week. Not per month or per year, per week.”
Motsoaledi says it is the country's collective responsibility to support and protect our young women.
"Out of those 14 countries, 2000 of such infections are happening in one country, and that happens to be my country and yours," he said.
