AA: Price of fuel expected to drop in August
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
There could be some relief at the fuel pumps next month.
The Automobile Association says unaudited mid-month data shows a reduction in the cost of all grades of fuel is on the cards.
Should the AA's outlook remain unchanged, this means we'll see a drop of 90 cents and R1,03 per litre for 95 and 93 octane fuels respectively, while diesel could be 91 cents cheaper per litre.
The current data also looks promising for households who use paraffin as it suggests, it could go down by around 94 cents per litre.

On the other hand, there is some bad news as the AA warns the projected fuel cost reductions will be offset by the re-introduction of the General Fuel Levy, which makes a full comeback in August at a rate of R3, 93 cents per litre.
With this taken into account, the AA, therefore, says the true mid-month reduction adjustment will most likely reflect a drop of 15 cents per litre for petrol and 32 cents per litre for diesel.
