80 Covid deaths recorded, 39 371 Phase Two vaccinations so far

According to the latest Covid-19 statistics, 80 more people in South Africa died after they contracted the virus.

This brings the pandemic death toll to 55 340.
The Health Ministry's recorded another 2 355 new infections.

Gauteng has the highest number of active cases at over 8 000, followed by the Northern Cape at 6 200 and the Free State at almost 6 000.
"The total vaccinated under the Sisonke Programme is 479 768. These vaccinations were with the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine and are therefore completed vaccinations.
"The total vaccinated in Phase Two to date is 39 371. These vaccinations were with the first dose of Pfizer vaccine," the department said in a statement.
As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 617 840. Today, 80 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported which brings the total to 55 340 deaths.
