8 men convicted for crimes committed at Glebelands hostel

Eight men behind several crimes in Glebelands have been convicted by the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

It has found they conspired to eliminate dwellers who threatened their control of the hostel.
The convicted are: Bhekukwazi Mdweshu, Khayelihle Mbuthuma, Vukani Mcobothi, Eugene Hlophe, Mcomekile Ntshangase, Mbuyiselwa Mkhize, Mondli Mthethwa and Bongani Mbhele.

NPA KZN spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says the crimes were committed between 2014 and 2016.
"During this time, nine people were killed and seven others were injured. Sentencing proceedings have been set down for 16 January 2023.”
