7 arrested in Durban for copper theft

Seven people accused of stealing copper cables worth R1.5 million have been arrested in Ntuzuma, north of Durban.
Police, metro police, and officials from PRASA, Transnet, Telkom and Eskom went to a home on Monday after being tipped-off.
They found an illegal scrap metal dealership manufacturing three-legged pots using copper believed to have been stolen.

They arrested several people and recovered stripped copper cables, an R5 rifle and rounds of ammunition from the yard.
It's understood the cables belong to eThekwini Municipality and Transnet.
The suspects appeared in court on Tuesday.
