KwaZulu-Natal welcomed at least 66 New Year's babies born into the world since midnight on 1 January.

Premier Sihle Zikalala accompanied Health Minister Zweli Mkhize to welcome some of the New Year's Day babies at King Dinuzulu hospital Wednesday morning.
"On this special day is the beginning of the new decade and therefore we extend our best wishes to them. We want to wish them well in life, but it is our responsibility to ensure that we look after health facilities to ensure that the health services that are provided to all our people are in a very good state," he said.
Meanwhile, Mkhize says parents of babies that are born now will be part of the national register that will indicate their eligibility for the National Health Insurance.
Mkhize says through the NHI parents will get the health care they also deserve for their newborn children.
