Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says the number of unidentified bodies at the Phoenix mortuary has risen to 57.

She says they're still working to confirm if all of them are linked to last week's violent unrest.
On reports the mortuary has reached capacity of 500, the MEC says around 350 bodies were already in the facility before the riots.

"People did die in Phoenix. It is a point we cannot run away from.
"Now we leave that particular element of it to the SAPS, to the security cluster to be able to identify and indicate how many of the people had passed on and how many of the people passed on in relation to the unrest that was there and those that were targeted, because there are people that were targeted and its things that we can't run away from."
Simelane-Zulu has again urged those with missing family members to come forward.
