5 killed in single vehicle crash in Tongaat
A vehicle that crashed into a tree while travelling along Watson Highway in Tongaat has left five people dead.
Emergency personnel including fire fighters and paramedics who responded to the accident last night arrived to find carnage following the crash.
Jaws of life had to be used to free the occupants. Netcare 911's Chris Botha says they rushed immediately to the scene of the accident.
"When we arrived there it was total carnage with the wreckage of the car very badly crumpled", he said.
"There were still people trapped inside the wreckage and they had to be extricated by the fire services", Botha said.
"SAPS was on scene and their busy investigating the cause of this accident", he said.
