At least 400 Tansnat employees have been paid: eThekwini
eThekwini Municipality says it is well into the process of paying bus drivers who embarked on a strike earlier this week.
Angry drivers abandoned their vehicles on the N2 and N3 freeways heading into Durban on Monday.
They'd not been paid their December salaries and bonuses.
eThekwini's Mandla Ntsele says they've taken over the payment process from operator, Tansnat - asking affected employees to come forward with the relevant documents so their details can be verified.
"More than 400 employees have been paid. The remaining employees will be paid once the registration process has been finalised. We would like to assure our residents that the city is resolving the matter.
"We are expecting that the bus service will resume soon," he said.
