4 women rescued from Durban 'human trafficking syndicate'
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Four women have been rescued from an alleged human trafficking syndicate in Durban.

The women, aged between 19 and 27, were all job seekers from Johannesburg.
They were allegedly lured to Durban with promises of work at a call centre.
One of the women is said to have met someone in Johannesburg who offered her the job and told her to recruit more women.

KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the women left on a bus on Monday and arrived on Tuesday morning.
They were taken to a Durban North house.
"Upon arrival, they were told that they will be involved in the sex trade business. One of the women managed to make a call and alert people and the information reached the provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who on Wednesday, led an operation which resulted in the rescue of the four women."
A human trafficking case has been opened and handed over to the Hawks.
