4 killed, 3 hurt in N3 crash
An investigation is underway into a horrific accident on the N3 near Shongweni that claimed the lives of four people, including two children.
Reports from the scene suggest an SUV overturned and slammed into two other vehicles on the Pietarmaritzburg-bound carriageway at about 8.30 last night.
Paramedics say a woman passed away before they arrived on the scene.
KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says they began treating a man and two children on the roadside but they tragically died a short while later.
Mckenzie says three other people were taken to hospital.
"All the victims are believed to have been from the SUV that overturned. It's believed that the victims are a close family group.
"The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this stage and will be investigated by authorities," he said.
