4 cops arrested following death of Mthokozisi Ntumba

Four officers from the Public Order Policing Unit have been arrested following the death of a man at a student protest in Johannesburg.
Mthokozisi Edwin Ntumba was killed last week, allegedly by police.
It's understood the 35-year-old father of three was passing by as officers were firing rubber bullets to disperse Wits University students in Braamfontein.
IPID's Ndileka Cola says the four officers will appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Wednesday the 17th March.
"They are facing charges of murder, 3 times attempted murder and defeating the end of justice."
Meanwhile, Police Minister Bheki Cele refutes any claims made by EFF leader, Julius Malema, suggesting that he reneged on alleged promises to the family for burial arrangments and payments.

Minister Cele discuss funeral arrangements with the family during his visit or subsequently. Neither did the family at this early stage in their bereavement, express specific financial needs to the Minister.
Cele says these claims are false and misleading.
“It is an absolutely heartless move by any political party or its leadership to lie to its followers and to the nation by using the pain of a family who suffered such a devastating loss of a father, a husband and a breadwinner, to push a political agenda in a desperate attempt to gain political mileage," says Cele.
