Three killed, 17 hurt in PMB crash

Three people have been killed in a crash on the N3 freeway in Pietermaritzburg.

A bakkie and a taxi collided yesterday on the northbound carriageway in the vicinity of the Ortman Road off-ramp.
It is understood the taxi overturned and rolled several times before coming to a standstill.
Emergency services say 17 other people were hurt in the crash.
Netcare911’s Chris Botha says two men and a woman died on scene.
The first bumper weekend of the holiday season was a busy one on the roads for emergency services.
Botha is urging motorists to drive carefully.
"We ask people now to really slow down on the roads. We've been inundated with calls," he said.
Meanwhile, one person was killed in a crash involving a taxi in the Ntuzuma area, north of Durban last night.
Crisis Medical says 18 other people were hurt after the vehicle crashed down an embankment.
It's unclear what caused the accident.
