3 children killed due to suspected illegal connection

Three children have been killed after they allegedly stepped on an illegal electricity connection at the Jika Joe Informal Settlement in Pietermaritzburg.

In a statement released, the Department Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs says the incident took place yesterday.
Cogta spokesperson, Senzo Mzila says MEC Sipho Hlomuka is calling for residents to come forward if they have any information about who is behind the illegal connections.
"Hlomuka has urged residents to be aware of the dangers caused by illegal electricity connections and calls on anyone with information to come forward", He said.
"The MEC has also sent his condolences to the families of the three children", Mzila said.
