KZN matriculant Fezeka Kubheka, who attends Ferrum High School in Newcastle, says she is ready as can be for the final exams.

Over 198 000 KZN full and part time candidates will sit for the exams starting on Monday, and wrapping up on 7 December.

Kubheka has described the exams preparations journey as frustrating but says she managed to get all together through prayer and meditation.

"When you're sitting for hours and you're studying but you not processing what you're actually studying and what you actually doing, it definitely gets frustrating because you want to get it right and you want to get the most marks that you can possibly get. What helped me overcome it is definitely taking a little bit of a break just to calm myself," says Khubeka.

KZN Education MEC Mbali Frazer says the department is confident this year's cohort is ready for the National Senior Certificate exams.

Frazer says matric pupils have been taking part in an intensified study program as part of their preparations for the various papers.

Kubheka says she is aware that her exams results could determine her future.

"I really feel nervous about these exams. I think it's more of these exams determine the rest of my future, it shapes where I'm going from here or how my academic future will look like. So I think it's definitely nerve-wrecking for me, it's scary."
