Updated | By Steve Bhengu and Lauren Beukes
Former president Jacob Zuma was expected to cast his vote in the local government elections on Monday morning.
South Africans have been making their way to the polls since seven this morning, under level 1 of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Zuma was set cast his ballot at the Ntolowane Primary School in Nkandla.
Newswatch's Steve Bhengu filed this report:
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen cast his vote at Northwood Boys High School, north of Durban.
Steenhuisen walked through the gates of the school, followed by a trail of supporters who ululated and danced around him.
He cast his vote at his former school, where he said he is proud to do so.
