2017 Year in Review: Rugby fans left disappointed

The 2017 rugby season was another disappointing one for South Africans.

The Springboks under Allister Coetzee recorded another substandard season.

The Boks managed only seven wins from 13 matches this year, including record defeats to New Zealand and Ireland.

That is on the back of an equally disappointing season in which the green and gold managed only four Test wins.

Coetzee, who has come under fire from angry fans, has a record of 11 wins from 25 matches since taking over the Bok coaching job.

However, the Cell C Sharks gave East Coasters some hope.

They delivered a stellar Currie Cup campaign and secured a home final.

Unfortunately for local supporters, the Sharks went down to Western Province in the play-off at Growthpoint Kings Park.

The 2023 Rugby World Cup will also be staged in France, despite South African being identified as the preferred candidate going into the final vote.
