Inanda home gutted by blaze
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
An Inanda grandmother is trying to pick up the pieces after their home was gutted by a fire this morning.
An emotional Makhosazana Msani says she had left her three children and seven grandchildren in one of the rooms of her Amaoti house - while she prepared breakfast for them in the kitchen.
She has told Newswatch she saw smoke coming into the kitchen and realised a fire had broken out in the room where the ten children and grandchild were.
EThekwini Fire's Bheki Hadebe says fortunately no one was hurt.
"When we arrived, we found that a section of the house was destroyed by the fire but the occupants and the neighbours had managed to control the fire. We assisted in damping down the host spots. [They won't be able to live in the house] due to the extent of the damage," he said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
