2 killed, 4 hurt in KZN crash
Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two people in the KwaMaphumulo area, north of Durban last night.
A delivery vehicle travelling along the R74 crashed about 50m down an embankment.
Emergency services say a man and woman passed away on scene.
Four other people were hurt in the crash.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services' Robert Mckenzie says they were treated on scene before being taken to hospital.
He says crews had to work under difficult conditions.
"It was quite a difficult scene for the paramedics to work on due to this embankment and also because it was dark in the area. They had to set up lighting to see what they were doing down the embankment.
"Reports from the scene are that it was just that light delivery vehicle that was involved in the crash, and the cause of the crash is unknown at this stage," he said.
