19 hurt in two KZN road accidents
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
At least 17 passengers have been hurt when their taxi crashed into a concrete barrier at the Mvoti Toll Plaza, on the N2 near KwaDukuza, yesterday evening.
It is believed the driver had failed to stop the vehicle when approaching one of the toll booths. Those inside the vehicle suffered minor to critical injuries.
ER24 and other emergency services responded to the scene where they treated the patients on scene before transporting them to various hospitals. Police will investigate.
In another incident two people have been hurt after their car left the road at the intersection of Avon Crescent in Durban North this morning. It is believed the driver somehow lost control at the wheel causing the car to crash into a nearby home.
When Crisis Medical paramedics arrived they found the vehicle mid-air balancing on a retaining wall. With the guidance of eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services they managed to make their way into the vehicle.
After assessment it was found the man and woman had sustained only minor injuries and refused to transported to hospital. Details around the cause of the accident will be expected to be investigated by the relevant authorities.
