An 18-year-old is due to line up in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court soon in connection with the murder of his father.

Police say the man was assaulted in the Klaarwater area on Monday afternoon.

"It is alleged that the son and the father were having an argument when the son assaulted the father with the hammer and killed him."
