18 hurt in Shongweni crash
Eighteen people are receiving treatment following a crash involving a bakkie and a taxi near Shongweni, west of Durban.
It is still unclear what caused the accident.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services' Robert Mckenzie says the patients have been assisted.
"Eight of the patients had serious injuries, while the remaining 10 patients had sustained relatively minor injuries. Paramedics stabilised the patients on scene and have transported them to local health institutions in the area for continued medical care," he said.
Meanwhile, five people were killed in a separate collision involving two cars in Pretoria this morning.
The men died before emergency services arrived at the scene.
