16 hurt after taxi crashes into electricity pole near Hillcrest
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Sixteen people have been hurt after a taxi they were travelling in rolled before crashing into an electricity pole on Fischer Road near the Inanda dam, near Hillcrest last night.
It is unclear what led to the driver losing control at the wheel and causing the accident. Emergency services responded to the scene.
One of them was ER24 and the service's Chitra Bodasing says when they got there they found the taxi had rolled for about 200 metres.
"It is understood that some of the patients had been ejected from the taxi while others were pulled out by bystanders. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries," she said.
"They were treated and transported to hospitals for further medical care. The exact cause of the accident is unknown however authorities were on scene for further investigations," Bodasing said.
