Nonjabulo Mteki was found guilty of the 2016 robbery at Shakila Singh's Musgrave home.

The 55-year-old Singh was suffocated.

There were sighs of relief from Singh’s family when Judge Bert Laing handed Nonjabulo Mteki a 15-year sentence for robbery.

Laing said Mteki bit the hand that fed her.

The judge said although Mteki wasn’t convicted of Singh’s murder - she played an integral part in the robbery that resulted in a death.

Her co-accused, Amon Ngongi and Ally Jumah Abdullah were hired to carry out the planned robbery and were found guilty of murder.

Judge Laing has sentenced both men to life imprisonment each for murder and 15 years each for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He wrapped up sentencing by saying the trio acted out of plain greed.

Abdullah - who is said to have been the one who suffocated Singh - wanted leave to appeal his sentence but Laing refused his request.
