A woman has been taken to hospital after she was injured during a robbery at Lakeside Mall in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.

A group of 15 armed robbers stormed the mall on Wednesday, threatening employees with firearms.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says the robbery and shooting happened in broad daylight.
“It is alleged that about 15 suspects stormed into one of the shops at the mall and showed the employees firearms before loading clothes into the bags.

“On their way out, suspects started shooting randomly as they were running toward getaway vehicles, three sedans.
“A female worker from one of the shops sustained injuries and she was taken to the nearest medical care centre.”
Masondo says while no arrests have yet been made, a case of business robbery and murder has been opened for investigation.
