13 killed in overnight KZN storm
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The storm that swept through parts of KZN last night has resulted in the death of 13 people.
This occurred when a church structure in the Dlangubo area, under the uMhlathuze Municipality, collapsed with congregants inside. It is believed they were taking part in an Easter passover session when disaster struck. The incident happens as in other part of the province roads and homes were left damaged.
Emergency services worked through the night responding to various incidents.
The provincial Cooperative Governance Department's Lennox Mabaso says following last night's tragic church collapse they have dispatched an emergency team to the area.
"This morning, COGTA MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube is leading a government delegation that is visiting the site and to provide support and comfort to all those affected", he said.
"We must now come together as a province and be able to comfort and support each other in whatever means at this point", Mabaso said.
