13 killed in KZN crash near Greytown

The Easter long weekend has gotten off to a tragic start,
with at least 13 people killed in a horrific crash near Greytown in central
KwaZulu-Natal.

Initial reports are that a taxi and two other vehicles collided on the R33 earlier this evening.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services’ spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says police have confirmed at least 13 fatalities. He says another four people have been critically hurt and have been taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is still unknown at this stage.
Mckenzie says emergency services and other traffic authorities are still on the scene.

Another four people have been critically hurt in a separate, secondary crash also on the R33 near Greytown.
Meanwhile, at least 16 people have been hurt in a separate accident on the R56, also involving a taxi, near Richmond in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
