The 120 suspects arrested for arson, malicious damage to property and contravening the public gathering Act in Isithebe will remain behind bars until their bail application next week Tuesday.
Protests in the area began on Sunday night during which factories and trucks were burnt.
Residents claim that police pulled those arrested out of their homes including some who reportedly hadn't been part of the protest.

"According to our investigation, those 120 suspects or people who were allegedly linked to the protests they were arrested because of our investigation. They were caught while they protesting. Some had already fled the scene but they were arrested later," he said.
