11 nabbed for selling counterfeit matric certificates

Since October, 11 people have been arrested for allegedly selling fake matric certificates.
This is according to the exam quality assurance body Umalusi.
The council's CEO, Dr Mafu Rakometsi, says one of the suspects is an employee of the Department of Higher Education and Training.

He says the individual was nabbed for fraudulently issuing a diploma certificate in return for cash.
"The first two suspects were arrested in Burgersfort in Limpopo on 27 October. One suspect was arrested in Pretoria, in November; the next 3 were arrested on November 20 and the last 5 on December 13, 2023, In Burgersfort Limpopo."
"All the suspects have been charged and will appear in court during the month of January 2024."
