11 killed in bakkie crash in southern KZN
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A bakkie overturned on the D1049 at around 4pm yesterday.
It's understood the vehicle veered off the road in the KwaMbotho area en route towards Highflats.
A 3-month-old baby and a 3-year-old toddler were among the victims.
Seven other people were hurt in the crash.
The KZN Department of Health says the injured were taken to St Andrews Hospital, while other regional facilities and hospitals in eThekwini have been told to prepare for patients who may need specialised care.
The exact cause of the crash is still unknown.
Meanwhile, a fifty two-year-old man is in a critical condition after his Ferrari overturned near the Virginia circle in Durban North just after 8pm last night.
Crisis Medical says the motorist was found trapped inside the vehicle.
Advanced life support paramedics stabilised him on scene before rushing him to hospital for further care.
Both crashes are being investigated.
