10 arrested for non-compliance of Covid-19 regulations in PMB

Ten people have been arrested and a number of others issued with fines to the tune of over R30 000 - for non-compliance of Covid-19 regulations and other transgressions in Pietermaritzburg's CBD.

Economic Development MEC Ravi Pillay led a mass inspection drive at businesses on Thursday.
The department says nine people are suspected of being in the country illegally.

One person was arrested for selling alcohol without a licence.
Five businesses were ordered to appear in court for non-compliance with the Businesses Act.
