1 killed in Joburg freak accident
One person has died and five others are critically injured after the minibus taxi they were travelling in on the N3 highway burst into flames earlier in Gauteng.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says it appears the vehicle lost a wheel and had been skidding on its axle near the R554 in Alberton when it caught alight.
''Everybody managed to escape from the taxi except one person who tragically burned to death inside the vehicle. There was a total of 14 people injured.
''One sustained 80% burns and so that person was stabilised and then airlifted to hospital using the Netcare 911 helicopter,'' he said.
