1 killed, 3 critical in Field Hills crash
1 person has died while 3 others survived with serious injuries when their car left the M13 highway going up Fields Hill and crashed into a tree.
There are still a number of questions around the accident that took place early this morning just after midnight. Rescue Care emergency services responded and found the occupants trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
The service's Garrith Jamieson says additional assistance was brought in from the Durban Fire Department as well from their Advanced Life Support Paramedics.
"It took about 2 hours to eventually cut the vehicle occupants free. However due to the seriousness of his injuries, once freed, the driver went into cardiac arrest and succumbed to his injuries", he said.
"The remaining three were taken to hospital. Details of the accident are unknown but SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further", Jamieson said.
