KZN unrest death toll climbs to 180

The death toll from this week's riots in parts of the country has risen.

"Additional 89 deaths were reported,accumulative number of deaths in KwaZulu-Natal is 180," Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said on Friday.
"An additional 214 arrests were made which makes the accumulative arrests total to 1 692 and law enforcement agencies continue to closely monitor the situation in that province which is stable but fairly tense in some areas."
The unrest death toll between KZN and Gauteng stands at 212.

Ntshavheni says the figure includes seven bodies that were found inside a looted store in Pietermaritzburg.
"Hazardous items items which were targeted by looters have proved to be related to the high number of fatalities during which several multiple bodies were discovered at a Marko store yesterday morning in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal."
